Join us for our annual Winter Farm Celebration! Shop our Holiday Market to pick up fantastic gifts from local artisans on Saturday, December 11 and visit our Winter Farm Market on Sunday, December 12. Both Saturday and Sunday will feature wintery farm activities and crafts for families and children, along with seasonal tastings and recipe ideas (and ingredients) for your holiday table. Story Grove & Crafternoon

Seasonal Holiday Nibbles with Sherri Brooks Vinton

Stop by the Holiday Market for a cooking demonstration by local food advocate Sherri Brooks Vinton, author of Put ‘em Up and The Real Food Revival. She’ll be cooking up some delicious holiday dishes using seasonal ingredients. Stop by to taste her creations and get some new ideas for your holiday table! Copies of Put ‘em Up will be available for sale, and Sherri will gladly sign books. No registration needed.
Insider’s Tour

Our most intensive tour is an intimate, behind-the-scenes view of Stone Barns with one of our farm or program staff. Get up close and personal with the livestock and take a walk through the greenhouse and planting fields. Let us share with you our favorite places at Stone Barns. Due to the amount of walking & length of the tour, it is not recommended for those under 12 years of age. Tour meets in the Visitor Center.
Felting for Kids: Felted Soap

Learn how to use colorful sheep’s wool to make a soft felt cover for a bar of soap. Your soap will not only look beautiful and festive, but works as soap and a washcloth in one! Each child will work with our craft educator to make his or her own felted soap to take home. This activity is appropriate for children ages 6 to 14.
Felting for Adults: Oven Mitts

Learn how to make felted oven mitts using sheep’s wool. Each participant will make his or her own oven mitt alongside fiber artist Joan Raiselis.
Hands On on the Farm

Pitch in with hands-on farm activities every Saturday and Sunday this winter, and see how farm life changes with the seasons! On Saturdays, learn about the life of a hen at Stone Barns and join us to collect freshly laid eggs. On Sundays, learn about the life cycle of plants and lend a hand in the Greenhouse to help the farm stay productive in the winter. Examples of winter gardening activities include harvesting carrots or pulling out a bed of greens and feeding it to the pigs. Programs are appropriate for children ages 2 to 14; adults may accompany children free of charge.

Whether you are an aspiring backyard farmer, a veteran grower, or simply interested in the who, what and how of small-scale food production, you’re sure to enjoy this unique chance to talk shop with the best of them.
Winter Farm Market

Shop for Stone Barns Center’s pastured meat, eggs and winter vegetables along with baked goods from Red Barn Bakery, artisanal cheese and bread from Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse, specialty mushrooms and shoots from Wiltbank Farm, and handcrafted raw chocolate bars from Butter & Bean.
Winter Farm Tour

Get face-to-face with Stone Barns Center’s livestock in their winter shelters and learn about what’s growing in our four-season greenhouse and main production field. This tour will focus on winter growing techniques and how we manage our animals and cultivate delicious vegetables through the cold winter months.
