TAP® New York started out 18 years ago with a couple hundred beer fanatics and a handful of craft brewers at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, and has grown into the largest craft beer and food event in New York State.

Craft brewing is alive and growing bigger than ever in New York State. The popularity of craft brewing has led to fuller bodied, flavorful brews featuring rich colors, bold flavors, and imaginative ingredients. People ask for it, and the brewers are answering. Many new craft breweries are opening every year, and we're both happy and proud to welcome them aboard.

TAP® New York has grown over tenfold through the years to now encompass the entire base areas at Hunter Mountain, plus added tent space. Over 120 breweries have been invited for 2016, representing well over 300 individual beers, offer everything from IPAs and lagers to weissbiers, doppel and trippel bocks, stouts, ales... pretty much any variety you know of, and probably a few that you don't.

TAP® New York is also about food. Each year we offer plenty to eat. Daily cooking demonstrations will also show you some great ideas for your own kitchen.

TAP® is also a beer competition. Brewers from across the state enter their finest suds to compete for plaques and trophies. Each year on Saturday at TAP®, highly qualified judges choose the best craft brewery in New York State and also the best brewery in the Hudson Valley. On Sunday, the panel of judges decide the best individual beers in both the Hudson Valley and the entire state.

NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 21 WILL BE ADMITTED. VALID ID MUST BE CARRIED AT ALL TIMES AND PRODUCED UPON REQUEST.

Tap New York Craft Beer & Food Festival April 23rd & 24th 2016

Over the years, TAP^SM New York has developed into New York State's largest craft beer festival in the number of brewers attending.

We're not talking about big-corporation beer that comes out of huge vats in a 300,000 sq. ft. production plant. We're talking about hand-made beer.... not beer that is rushed through the brewing process to get it on the shelf as quickly as possible, but beer with enough personality and genuine taste to be called "craft-brewed". This is beer made with pride by people who truely enjoy a quality, flavorful beer.

Many of the invited brewers produce their beer for sale only in their location.... whether it is a restaurant, a brewpub or a small brewery. Others are breweries large enough to distribute on a larger scale, but maintain an excellent quality through their commitment to hands-on, craft-brewing their product. You won't find Anheuser-Busch, Coors, or Miller products here. What you will find are some truly remarkable beers that will tantalize your taste buds... beers that offer a variety of color and flavor that the big brewers don't do. You'll find everything from pale ales and pilseners, to weisbiers, porters, stouts, and scotch ales; from hearty Bohemian and Bavarian-style lagers to glorious Belgian-style ales and much more.

But TAP^SM New York is more than just about the beer. It's about great food -- tasty morsels that carefully complement these rich brews. And plenty of it.

It's about education.... about beer, about home-brewing, about beer/food pairings.... it's about cooking demonstrations from some of the best chefs in the region... and it's about good friends coming together for a weekend of good beer, good food and good times.

TAP^SM New York is also a competition. Beer experts and guest judges will judge in a competition for the "Best Beer" and "Best Brewery" in New York State. Two cups are awarded on Saturday, the Matthew Vassar Cup and the F. X. Matt Memorial Cup.

When is TAP^SM New York?

TAP^SM New York is an annual event, always held the last full weekend in April. In 2016 it takes place on Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24, 2016. Hours are 1pm to 5pm Saturday, 12noon to 4pm Sunday.

Where is TAP^SM New York?

TAP^SM New York is held at Hunter Mountain in the Great Northern Catskills.

You must be 21 years of age or older to attend TAP^SM New York. Valid ID must be carried at all times and produced upon request. No infants or children will be permitted to enter the event. This includes infants in strollers or carried by a parent. For the benefit and safety of your child and all other attendees, please make arrangements to leave your children at home or with friends or relatives.

This week's meal includes a hefty portion of meaty lasagna made with our housemade sauce, grass-fed ground beef, our Italian sausage, and Vera's fresh mozzarella! This will be accompanied by a fresh and crisp local kale caesar salad with brioche croutons and a bowl of Italian chicken and wild rice soup! With the temperatures dropping we feel this is a meal to warm you up and keep you healthy! Moses Sleeper
Jasper Hill Farm (pasteurized cows’ milk/animal rennet, Greensboro, VT)
Moses Sleeper was Greensboro’s own local Revolutionary war hero, and is the inspiration for this decadent and buttery cheese. The undulating fluffy folds of bloomy rind encase a tacky, pudding-like paste that tastes of cauliflower, truffles, and barnyard. Aged 4-6 weeks in the Cellars at Jasper Hill Farm.

Melinda Mae
Mystic Cheese Company (pasteurized cows’ milk/animal rennet, Lebanon, CT)
This is the second cheese to be released by the Mystic Cheese Company. It takes its name from the classic Shel Silverstein poem about a little girl named Melinda Mae who eats a whale from head to toe. Mystic Cheese bases all of its cheese names on whale and maritime themes given the city’s historic importance as a whaling town. There’s nothing fishy about this cheese however… Melinda Mae is a buttery square veiled with a paper thin bloomy rind that is reminiscent of robiola. The flavor is subtle and buttery with a touch of tang and a pleasant yeasty finish. Ideal atop a pizza or served up with a favorite compote… Takes well to salty and sweet preparations. Aged 2 weeks or more.

The region is celebrating Fall Hudson Valley Restaurant Week presented by The Valley Table from November 2-15 with an impressive list of restaurants. You have two whole weeks to eat your way through the Hudson Valley, giving you plenty of time to try new eateries and return to old favorites, all offering amazing prix-fixe menus at a discounted price.

From Yonkers to Kingston, restaurants will offer special three-course lunch ($20.95) and dinner menus ($29.95). Guests (21 years of age and older) can pair those meals with the local wines and cocktails.

Harvest On The Hudson @ The Culinary Institute Saturday October 17th 2015 @ 6: PM

Please join the students of The Culinary Institute of America for Harvest on the Hudson, an evening at the CIA in Hyde Park celebrating the bounty of the fall. The evening begins with an outdoor reception and silent auction overlooking the Hudson River, followed by a four-course dinner in the college’s Farquharson Hall featuring foods from local farms. Hors d’oeuvre and dinner will be accompanied by beer, wine, and spirits from Hudson Valley producers.

This entire event is conceived and executed by CIA bachelor’s degree students in the senior class of The Culinary Institute of America, as part of their capstone Foodservice Management course.

These future stars in the hospitality industry are responsible for all of the evening’s planning and execution, from menu development to the overall ambiance and design of the event.
