Kings and Queens starts local bowling tournament season
By Phil Versace • Bowling columnist
The Hudson Valley United States Bowling Congress is now accepting entries for the first tournament of the 2008-2009 season.
The annual Kings and Queens Scratch Tournament is one of the
association's premier events. Jack Houghtaling, long time bowler and
past president of the Dutchess Putnam Counties Bowling Association, is
lending a hand in running this year's event. Jack runs several scratch
tournaments of his own each year, and has a wide network of bowlers in
the area.
The tournament will take place on Nov. 9 at Carmel Bowl in Putnam County. There will be a separate women's and open division.
The
format will consist of a four-game qualifier with a stepladder final to
determine the winner. Be sure to get your entry in early to guarantee a
spot.
Forms are available at all local bowling centers, as well as at www.hvusbc.org.
For more information, you can contact the association manager, Bob Tyler, at 845-691-4902.
