NY Portuguese Short Film Festival - II Edition

Arte Institute is pleased to announce its second edition of the New York Portuguese Short Film Festival, to be held June 1 and 2, 2012 at Tribeca Cinemas.
Organized for the first time in June 2011, the NY Portuguese Short Film Festival is the first Portuguese short film festival to be held in the United States. While the first edition was held in New York, Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro, this year's festival will be held in New York and Portugal, simultaneously. Later this year, Arte Institute will take the NY Portuguese Short Film Festival - II Edition to Rio de Janeiro and to Sao Paulo. By organizing the festival in multiple countries, the Arte Institute aims to broaden the audiences of Portuguese cinema across the globe and pave the way for cultural cooperation.
This year's edition will screen 14 short films, selected by a judging panel comprising film experts from both the United States and Portugal. The schedule for the film festival weekend is as follows:

Based in New York, Arte Institute focuses on Portuguese contemporary art through the organization of events in Europe as well as North and South America. The NY Portuguese Short Film Festival - II Edition is made possible in part with public funds from the Fund for Creative Communities, supported by New York State Council on the Arts and administered by Lower Manhattan Council; as well as funds from the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
