THE HUDSON GORGE
Rated as one of the top 10 whitewater rafting trips in the U.S., the Hudson River Gorge is the pinnacle of Eastern Whitewater. Seventeen miles of great class III-IV+ whitewater combined with spectacular scenery, will provide you and your group with memories that will last a lifetime. This is a full day trip that takes you through the heart of the six million acre Adirondack Park, via rapids such as the Gooley Steps, Blue Ledges, The Narrows, Givney's Rifts, and the Bus Stop, just to name a few. Take a swim in Dunk Flats, leap off Elephant Rock, or engage in ship-to-ship warfare (a.k.a. splash-fights). Hop back in your raft for a quick run through Entry Rapid's Jiffy Pop Drop just before your riverside lunch; then prepare for miles of foamy fun as you run the Narrows, Osprey, Mile-Long and more. After your trip, enjoy a great hot dinner at our raft base while you reminisce about the days adventures.

From June 22nd to Columbus Day weekend, we run every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday. We also run on Labor Day and Columbus Day Mondays. Why only these days? Our trip begins on the Indian River, just below the Lake Abanakee Dam. We utilize water released from this dam to make our way to the Hudson Gorge. Without this dam release, we could not get to the Hudson gorge. These are the only days when water is released.
WHEN SHOULD WE GO?
If it’s BIG WATER that you are after, the first three weeks in April usually provide it. This is when snowmelt and spring rains combine to make the Hudson a big water heaven. So if it’s huge standing waves, monster holes, and nearly continuous class IV-V white water you’re after, this is the time to go. A word of caution, with big water comes cold water and variable weather. This time of year isn’t for the faint of heart. Call For age restrictions.
If it’s exciting class IV whitewater and warmer temperatures you want, late April through May is your time to come. This time of year provides the best of both worlds. With snowmelt still flowing from the high peaks and the pleasant days of late spring, you can’t go wrong. Warmer weather and plenty of water spells FUN! Minimum age: 12 - mid May, then 10 until Memorial Day weekend.
In mid – June we start our summer schedule. Although we don’t have the big water we see in the spring, the large dam release on the Indian River provides plenty of water for super class III+ white water all summer long. And summer means warm. DON’T FORGET THE SUNBLOCK! Minimum age: 8 years old
Spectacular foliage combined with good class III – IV white water makes the fall a special time of year. A fall trip through the gorge during the peak of the foliage season will not be forgotten.

What makes a river so restful to people is that it should have any doubt -- it is sure to get where it is going, and doesn't want to go anywhere else. Wild rivers are earth's renegades, defying gravity, dancing to their own tunes, resisting the authority of humans, always chipping away, and eventually always winning.
