1,000 Tulip Bulbs To Be Planted Along Huguenot Street In Preparation For Henry Hudson"s 400th Anniversary

Volunteers to plant tulips along Huguenot Street

NEW PALTZ — Preparations for the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's voyage up the Hudson River will be launched with a tulip bulb planting day Oct. 18 along Huguenot Street. Volunteers will plant 1,000 bulbs on the six-acre site.

Tulips have long been associated with Holland, which created the New Netherland colony soon after Hudson's voyage in 1609.

Volunteers are still needed to assist with planting. Call 255-1660, ext. 108, or e-mail [email protected].

The George Washington Bridge is at HRM 12, the Tappan Zee 28, Bear Mountain 47, Beacon-Newburgh 62, Mid-Hudson 75, Kingston-Rhinecliff 95, Rip Van Winkle 114, and the Federal Dam at Troy, the head of tidewater, at 153. Entries from points east and west in the watershed reference the corresponding river mile on the mainstem.
