The online home brand Burkelman—founded by Kevin Burke and David Kimelman—has opened its first brick-and-mortar store, in Cold Spring, New York. The 1,500-square-foot space, formerly a downtown soda shop, boasts original wood floors, tin ceilings, and a flood of sunlight that emphasizes the brand’s assemblage of home goods and jewelry sourced from artisans and designers across the globe.
Graphic textiles are displayed on a ladder next to a side table by Brooklyn design firm Souda.
Glass vessels handblown in California, marbleized ceramics slip-cast in Brooklyn, and jungle-print pillows made in Australia decorate a series of clean, white étagères. A retro bar is topped with whimsical jewelry pieces. And a table with a tree-trunk–shaped base holds chalky white ceramics produced by Dana Brandwein in Connecticut. Whether you’re hunting a new statement piece for your home or the perfect gift for your Hudson Valley host, Burkelman’s impressive selection is sure to offer some high-design contenders.
