200 Solar-Powered LEDs Light Up the Hudson River for ‘Reflecting the Stars’
New York City may have it all, but we certainly don't have stunning views of a star-filled sky. In fact, starry nights are becoming rarer everywhere because of
air and light pollution. To raise awareness about our disappearing night sky -- and to give New Yorkers a chance to experience the stars -- Jon Morris, founder and artistic director of
The Windmill Factory art collective, created '
Reflecting the Stars,' an installation of 201
wireless solar-powered LED lights on the decaying Pier 49 in the Hudson River. The lights beautifully recreate the night sky on the water, with each LED sparkling in the river.
Wow! The photo is spectacular so I am sure that it would be have been even better in photo. What a great way to promote green living and share its beauty with the world. Love it!
