BÉLA FLECK - THE AFRICA PROJECT Collaborations With Amazing African Musicians
The banjo was born in Africa, emigrating on slave ships bound for the New World. Béla Fleck
wanted to go there to not only revisit his instrument's roots, but play
with some of the continent's best musicians, singers and dancers. One
result was the documentary film Throw Down Your Heart. Béla also returned with a remarkable new body of work which he will sharing with Music Hall patrons at this concert.
The Music Hall Theater, 13 Main Street, Tarrytown, NY
The
Music Hall, built in 1885, is listed on the National Register for
Historic Places and is the oldest theater in Westchester.
Architecturally beautiful and acoustically magnificent, the 843-seat
theater is home to first class performances and films. It is owned and
operated by The Friends of the Mozartina, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit,
educational, and cultural organization.

The Hudson is measured north from Hudson River Mile 0 at the Battery at the southern tip of Manhattan. The George Washington Bridge is at HRM 12, the Tappan Zee 28, Bear Mountain 47, Beacon-Newburgh 62, Mid-Hudson 75, Kingston-Rhinecliff 95, Rip Van Winkle 114, and the Federal Dam at Troy, the head of tidewater, at 153. Entries from points east and west in the watershed reference the corresponding river mile on the mainstem.
Hudson River Boat & Yacht Club An organization representing thirty-three boat clubs, on both sides of the Hudson. Over 8,000 members from Poughkeepsie to below Yonkers.
